Manchester United are keen on securing the services of Trabzonspor attacking midfielder and Liverpool target Yusuf Yazici, according to reports.
The 20-year-old came through the ranks at Trabzonspor and made his senior debut back in 2015 before asserting himself as a first team regular last season, netting six goals.
And he has continued to impress in the Turkish Super Lig over the last few weeks, claiming two assists in six appearances and attracting interest from Liverpool in the process.
According to Turkish media outlet Fanatik, Mourinho has expressed an interest in Yazici and could launch a £12.3m bid for the youngster in January.
Whether Mourinho moves for him or not, Yazici won’t be languishing at Trabzonspor – currently 11th in Turkey’s top division – for much longer. His horizons are far bigger than that.
He operates as one of the attacking midfielders in a 4-1-4-1 approach, similar to that of Manchester City, and possesses the potential to wreak havoc going forward: a superb crosser of the ball, blessed with incredible vision and a Dennis Bergkamp-esque way of receiving the ball – melodically and in his stride – whilst adept at producing precise passes in the final third
A suitable comparison would be Paris Saint-Germain’s Julian Draxler – somebody who brings a combination of technical bravado and powerful impetus going forward to the forefront of his game – and Mourinho ought to keep a close eye on him over the next few months.
