The pair faced off on many occasions and showed great respect for one another, so much so that many thought Mourinho would replace Ferguson after the Scot’s departure from Man United in 2013.
Yet that didn’t happen, with David Moyes coming in instead. Mourinho is now at the club, and Saha noted the same mentality emanates from the Portuguese as from Ferguson, speaking to BetStars.
“These are two coaches who are obsessed with victory, who always want to advance their players and their team,” Saha said.
“They are also both very innovative.
“Alex Ferguson always loved to innovate, he pushed his players to 200%. Mourinho and him are two big machines.
“Mourinho knows every detail, the weight of each player of the opposing team, if he was injured, he really knows everything.
“Tactics are important, but small details too. And Alex Ferguson was the same.”
United travel to Liverpool in the first game back from the international break in their first game against a top six side.
But things are certainly progressing well for Mourinho, whose side also top their UEFA Champions League group, scoring seven goals in their opening two games in the competition.
