Manchester United are scouting 17-year-old forward Komal Thatal at this month’s U17 World Cup in India.
Playing in his home country, Komal will look to impress Man United scouts during the tournament, which the Reds’ own Angel Gomes is playing at, for England’s under-17s.
Bengali daily newspaper Aajkaal report that the Indian youngster could be given a trial at the club immediately after the competition.
Komal is the main player for his country’s under-17 side, having become the first ever Indian player at any level to score against Brazil for India.
In a famous goal for his country, he shimmied past one player, through the tackle of another and curled it around the goalkeeper into the corner.
A product of Namchi Football Academy, Komal would be Man United’s first Indian player. He’s also scored against Italy for India’s under-17 set-up.
As well as United, Komal has been drawing interest from other European clubs.
The U17 World Cup begins on October 6th. United fans will be watching for Angel Gomes, but must also keep an eye out for Komal Thatal, who could be a teammate of Gomes’ in the coming years if he impresses.
He’d be the most recent in a flurry of young signings at United, who bought in Arnau Puigmal and Aliou Traore among others this summer, as well as names like Tahith Chong and Josh Bohui in years before.
