Arsenal legend Thierry Henry was full of praise for his fellow Frenchman, Anthony Martial, and made a rather surprising claim about the youngster’s ability and potential.
Martial has been heavily involved in Manchester United’s goals so far this season despite coming off the bench more frequently than starting games.
His impact has led to some fans labelling him as a super-sub but the likelihood is that his competition with Marcus Rashford has led to great performances.
Anthony has been compared to Henry since his arrival from Monaco particularly because of their similarities in positions and style.
Both players are capable of playing on the left flank and up front but Thierry has insisted the wonder-kid is far better than he was at that age.
A huge compliment to Martial of course as Henry was crucial to an Arsenal side that was the best in recent memory.
His goals and silky play made him one of the best foreign players in the Premier League era, leaving Anthony with a lot to live up to.
However, the young French star is also making a name for himself and building up his own reputation as he continues to impress in Jose Mourinho‘s second season in charge.
He seems to have finally settled in and adapted to his manager’s tactics, once again proving his worth to the Old Trafford faithful.
If Martial wishes to become better than Henry and truly world class, he must continue to perform consistently at a high level. Manchester United know they have a gem of a player in their hands.
