The Red Devils slumped to a goalless draw against their rivals in one of the least exciting encounters between the two teams.
Either side only had one real chance to win it for their fans but ultimately fell short, leaving supporters with a bittersweet taste in their mouths.
The Spaniard hasn’t featured too often this season for United and his rustiness showed on the pitch against Liverpool’s intensity.
The tenacious midfielder has fallen from the high levels he set last season when he won Manchester United’s player of the year award, much to fan’s disappointment.
Ander Herrera made 7 tackles in the opening 18 minutes at Anfield; more than the entire Liverpool side (4) combined.

I rate Ander Herrera but I’ve to say that Marouane Fellaini offers a lot more to this United side ????.

Snide little foul, but not enough to get a yellow card.
Ander Herrera, ladies and gentlemen.

It’d be unfair to place all of the blame on Herrera’s shoulders with his teammates just as guilty for the bore draw.
United appeared just as sluggish as they did the last time they played after an international break which also happened to finish with both sides sharing the spoils.
A 2-2 draw with Stoke was also met with the same frustration as today’s game was by fans but perhaps when the season’s over, supporters will think both games were smart results.
Jose Mourinho set his team up to hit Liverpool on the counter but it quickly became clear that most of their squad was still tired and possibly jet lagged.
Sluggish and sloppy, Herrera and his teammates will want to quickly move on from this game and will hope for a better turn of fortunes in the future.
