Jose Mourinho: Paul Pogba can make football history

by Marwan Harraz

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has praised the absent Paul Pogba, claiming that the Frenchman can make football history.

Pogba is currently injured for the Red Devils and was sorely missed during the club’s goalless draw with Liverpool at Anfield.

Should the former Juventus man been on the pitch instead of the sidelines, perhaps United would have stolen a result.

Mourinho certainly believes in the creative midfielder’s capabilities but believes Paul’s in a better environment at Old Trafford than in the France set-up.

The flashy academy youth product has often been paired alongside Nemanja Matic, allowing Pogba to roam free to do as he bids, influencing the game far more often than he had last season.

Speaking to Telefoot, Jose said: “Paul can make football history. He has talent. We have the balance in midfield to occupy space better [this season].

“[Partnered] with [Blaise] Matuidi [for France], I think he isn’t happy.”

A shot fired at France manager Didier Deschamps perhaps but criticism towards him isn’t anything new at all.

Deschamps has been criticised plenty of times by pundits and fans for his unbalanced approach to managing a youthful squad brimming with talent.

France have one of their best squads in recent times with plenty of depth and the competition has even meant Anthony Martial missed out on the recent international fixtures despite his fine form.

Either way, so long as Pogba is being utilised correctly at United then fans of the club will hardly care how he performs on the international stage.

Paul had started this in fine form before succumbing to injury and the player will be hoping he can recover well enough to continue the good performances fans have seen so far.
