Former Tottenham star Jamie Redknapp has claimed that Manchester United will be pleased with Spurs’ loss to West Ham in the League Cup.
The London sides clashed with each other in what proved to be an exciting match as The Hammers secured a comeback win to join the rest of the winners in the quarter final stages.
The Red Devils meanwhile, claimed their own win against Welsh side Swansea with a comfortable 2-0 victory thanks to Jesse Lingard‘s well taken brace.
United are looking to secure back to back League Cup trophies but perhaps more importantly will be looking to bounce back in the Premier League with a win over Tottenham.
Redknapp believes that his former club have been brought back down to earth and that will work in Jose Mourinho‘s favour.
According to HITC, he told SkySports’ post-game coverage: “If you’re Manchester United, you’ll be pleased. That’s [loss] burst their bubble a little bit.”
“Poch may say that’s not good enough, and this is an opportunity to nip it in the bud.”
A win against the London club will help United temporarily close the gap on Manchester City to two points before the Sky Blues face a stubborn West Brom side.
Tony Pulis himself will be aiming for a win as well as he tries to lift his side further away from the relegation zone.
City of course are hoping to add to their points tally to continue racing ahead of the rest of the pack and secure a league title for the first time since the 2013-14 season.
Mourinho will surely look to end any of Tottenham’s title hopes whilst heaping pressure on his rival Pep Guardiola as the pair continue their ferocious battles in England’s top tier division.
