Jose Mourinho set to seek replacement for Luke Shaw – report

by Leo Nieboer

Jose Mourinho has lost faith in Luke Shaw at Manchester United and has already started to sound out other potential left-back options, according to reports.

The Portuguese publicly criticised Shaw’s commitment to the cause ahead of the 3-1 win over Swansea last November and stated that his work rate wasn’t good enough back in April.

And the 22-year-old has continued to linger on the periphery this season, making just two appearances from the bench in the League Cup and failing to make even one Premier League or Champions League match-day squad.

According to M.E.N‘s Samuel Luckhurst, Mourinho has lost faith in Shaw and has started to search for a replacement, while Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has expressed an interest in working with the Englishman once again.

There are some swap deals that appear to be almost too obvious. Shaw and Mourinho have firmly arrived at a disjunct; the latter has never really trusted the defender ever since he pulled out of the Swansea game at the last minute, and a move back to London, his home town, to work under a manager who he describes as a father figure would serve as the change of tune his career desperately needs.

Danny Rose, on the other hand, has spoken glowingly of Mourinho in the past whilst criticising the mentality of his current club, and even revealed that he wanted to play up north – where his mother still lives – at some point in his career.

Surely both parties, over the January transfer window, should just put two and two together and get the deal done.
