Anthony Martial was the difference maker for Manchester United against Tottenham according to Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp.
The former Tottenham midfielder praised the Frenchman for his impact off the bench for the Red Devils as his team secured a huge three points at Old Trafford.
United sucker punched the London club in the latter stages of the game thanks to Martial’s composed finish against Hugo Lloris.
Having played second fiddle to Marcus Rashford for the majority of the season, it was Anthony who usurped his teammate this time around.
The young Englishman struggled to create a real partnership with Romelu Lukaku on the pitch but the former Monaco man showed him just how to do it as he capitalised on the Belgian’s flicked header.
According to The Sport Review, Redknapp said on Sky Sports: “Martial was the difference. He is a player who effects games. He must think how is he on the bench scoring how many goals he does.
“He is a genuine talent. He gets into areas where he can score goals.”
Rather simple analysis from Jamie but it’s exactly what Anthony does so well, particularly as he helps his team often shift a gear up in matches when he’s on the field.
Keen to make an impact, the young star made sure he got his name on the scoresheet in order to impress his boss Jose Mourinho.
The Portuguese manager’s favouring of Rashford will surely be tested now as the competition between the pair continues to heat up.
It’s the friendly rivalry that has helped bring out the best out of the two as both players have already reached the same statistical heights they reached last season.
With plenty of time left before May comes around, these set of players will be hoping to go even further with their performances as the World Cup is just around the corner.
