Jose Mourinho concerned with Marouane Fellaini’s contract situation

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has admitted he’s concerned with Marouane Fellaini‘s contract situation more so than Luke Shaw‘s.

The young Englishman’s contract has reportedly been extended but with no official news yet released, fans have been a little worried of losing him.

However, Mourinho is more worried about Fellaini’s contract with the Belgian free to leave Old Trafford in the summer.

Foreign clubs can start to lure Marouane over as early as January with Turkey the most touted destination next for the midfielder.

Clearly an important figure for his manager since his arrival at United, it’s strange to see contract talks taking so long to initiate.

According to the Daily Star, Jose said: “I’m worried about Fellaini and not about Luke Shaw because Fellaini finishes his contract and Luke Shaw doesn’t.”

The former Everton man faces stiff competition in midfield with Ander Herrera, Nemanja Matic, Michael Carrick and Paul Pogba all vying for the same position.

Youth academy graduate Scott McTominay is also highly rated by Mourinho while Andreas Pereira is set to return back to United from his loan spell at Valencia.

Fellaini may be considering his next move for his career as he ways his options- he can either be happy playing as a rotational option or transfer elsewhere for more game time.

Jose may rate the Belgian highly but minutes speak louder than words could ever do for footballers and perhaps Marouane doesn’t see a place for himself any longer at Old Trafford.

Should that be the case, the United faithful will surely miss the man who fought for so long to be accepted by the club’s fans.
