Manchester United are reportedly interested in Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro, but face a number of challenges in trying to bring the Brazilian to Old Trafford.
Spanish outlet Diario Gol (via the Daily Mail) reports that Casemiro is currently in contract negotiations with the European champions but that interest from Man United and other major European clubs could halt those.
Paris St Germain are the other club linked with Casemiro, with the world’s most expensive player Neymar allegedly telling his club to consider signing his compatriot.
United boss Jose Mourinho is said to be a ‘serious admirer’ of the Brazilian, who has proved important for Real Madrid over the past few years as they became the first side of the modern era to win consecutive Champions Leagues.
The challenges United face is the interest of PSG and the attraction of living in Paris and playing with names such as Neymar. However, the main issue if United are to seriously pursue Casimero is that the 25-year-old is said to be happy in Madrid, and with life at the Santiago Bernabeu.
This transfer rumour has the Sergio Ramos-feel about it, that the player involved wants a better offer from his current club, Real Madrid in this case again, and that means getting United’s name in there to drive up his salary.
There is no doubt, though, that Casimero would improve United’s midfield options, though. He’s a fantastic and reliable player for the European champions.
