Manchester United make contact with Andreas Pereira over potential January return – report

Manchester United have made contact with Andreas Pereira over the possibility of brining him back to Old Trafford in the January transfer window, according to reports from Spain.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a superb loan spell with Granada last term and went against his manager’s wishes by once again deciding to play in La Liga this season, signing for Valencia on a season-long loan on deadline day.

He has made eight appearances for Los Che so far this season and recently made it clear that he wanted to remain at the Mestalla until the end of the campaign.

But according to Spanish media outlet Plaza Deportivo (via Sport Witness), Man United have told Pereira that there’s a chance he could be recalled in January – as part of a clause on his contract – if he manages to secure a regular starting spot under Marcelino.

Breaching the starting XI at Valencia is proving to be a challenging yet far from impossible task for Pereira. He only made two starts in La Liga last month but impressed recently with a lively display out wide against Alaves, providing his second assist of the season.

And yet, you sense that Pereira, if recalled, would be reluctant to leave a starting spot at a club currently second in La Liga to only feature sporadically at Old Trafford.
