N’Golo Kante has a “50/50 chance” of facing Manchester United – report

Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante only has a “50/50” chance of facing Manchester United at Stamford Bridge this weekend as he continues to recover from a thigh injury, according to reports.

The Frenchman, who scored in the 4-0 win over Jose Mourinho‘s men last year, has been missing since the October international break with a muscle problem.

He travelled with the Chelsea squad for their clash with Roma on Tuesday night but Antonio Conte decided against risking him.

And according to the Independent‘s Miguel Delaney, Kante told reporters in the mixed zone after the 3-0 defeat in Rome that his prospects of facing Man United were “50/50”.

Kante has been an integral aspect of both Leicester and Chelsea’s line-up since arriving in England to the point where any starting XI without the Frenchman at the base of midfield looks to be operating at only 70 per cent, seemingly bereft of the usual urgency and balance so crucial to picking up results at the highest level.

Their capitulation in Rome was a glowing example: Chelsea attacked well and should have scored on numerous occasions but the lack of assurance at their core, with Tiemoue Bakayoko appearing directionless at times, left them looking porous and they ultimately paid the price.

If only there was a certain defensive midfielder – somebody who has won two Premier League titles with Chelsea – who could help them out on Sunday.
