Manchester United legend Bryan Robson has claimed that his former side have sorely missed star midfielder Paul Pogba.
The Frenchman has been absent for his team in recent weeks due to injury and with no apparent return date, fans will be wondering when their key player will return.
Pogba moved to United last season and may have started his career at Old Trafford slowly but this year had a great run of form before succumbing to fitness issues.
The Red Devils have since suffered a dip in performances with both Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Romelu Lukaku in particular struggling.
Both players began their seasons with goals and assists galore but have since slowed down and Robson believes that Paul was key to everything.
Speaking to Betsafe, he said: “The only thing which is a little bit of a shame for United so far, because I think United might have had even more points on the board, is if Pogba had been fit all the time.
“Because I thought the balance of Matic and Pogba, Herrera or Fellaini, whichever way the manager wanted to play them: Pogba was scoring goals, but he was creating goals because he had this really good understanding with Lukaku.
“So I think we’ve missed that to a certain degree and that’s why we’re not scoring as many goals as when we started the season. The sooner Pogba comes back the better for the club.”
While either player is capable of holding well enough, neither really offer the same attacking threat that the former Juventus man does.
The balance of Pogba and Matic in particular worked wonders for the team with the club’s other midfielders hardly getting a sniff of action with that duo in form.
When Paul got injured, Fellaini stepped in and to some degree succeeded as he plays in a much higher role in comparison to Herrera or Michael Carrick for example.
The Belgian’s destructive number ten role did it’s job superbly with opposition teams incapable of dealing with the unorthodox role.
With the Red Devils heading into the busy winter period, they’ll need their key player back as soon as possible and with Pogba on the pitch, fans may see a return of the 4-0 score-lines.
