Manchester United are keeping a close eye on the progress of Middlesbrough youngster Steven Walker ahead of a potential bid, according to reports.
The attacking midfielder has been long considered one of the brightest products of Middlesbrough’s academy and has featured for the England Under-17s.
He was part of the Middlesbrough Under-18 side that suffered a 6-2 hammering against Man United last month but caught the eye with an enterprising performance in midfield and a superb individual goal after 34 minutes .
And according to sources at TeamTalk, United will now keep a close eye on the youngster’s progress throughout the season.
Walker is basically that kid who, at the age of about 16, just before GCSEs, was so far ahead of the rest of the boys that any games that involved him were simply not fun whatsoever.
Indeed, this is somebody who has stood out from the rest ever since his ascent to the Under-18s on Teeside, boasting a fluid, seemingly effortless style on the ball and serious wheels on the counter.
And yet, as somebody who is yet to experience senior football, there is still a long way to for the talented youngster.
