21-year-old left-back Enzo Diaz: Manchester United want to sign me

Argentinian left-back Enzo Diaz has revealed that Manchester United are tracking him closely ahead of a potential move.

The 21-year-old was linked to the club in recent weeks, in a shock story. Diaz plays for Agropecuario in Argentina’s second division. Somehow, Man United’s interest has been sparked.

Diaz told Ataque Futbolero that he found out about the Reds’ interest on Saturday.

“I found out about it on Saturday morning, but later I did not talk to anyone other than my agent,” he said.

“My agent told me that they were delighted and they were going to see me in a couple more games.

“It is the dream of any footballer [to play for Manchester United].

“However, I need to remain focused on what we are doing and enjoying this moment.”

United have a talented young left-back in Luke Shaw, but the Englishman has fallen significantly out of favour with manager Jose Mourinho. He’s had tough luck with injuries, but his attitude has also been questioned.

Veteran Ashley Young is currently filling in, and doing so well, on the left, while Mourinho has Daley Blind and Matteo Darmian as alternative options.

Whether United will make a move for Diaz is another matter, but should the young Argentine come from a second division side in South America, it would be a bold move from Mourinho.
