Antoine Griezmann reveals Manchester United move remains a possibility

Antoine Griezmann has admitted a move to Manchester United remains a possibility in the future.

The Frenchman came close to signing for Man United last summer, but committed his future to Atletico Madrid after the La Liga’s side transfer ban was upheld by FIFA.

Moving into a new stadium, Griezmann wanted to be loyal to the club who have propelled him onto the elite stage of football.

But he’s in poor form for Atleti currently and has been on the receiving end of boos at the Wanda Metropolitano.

“While I have everything to be happy, this doesn’t mean I won’t leave [Atletico Madrid] one day,” he said in his new biography.

“I have not made a decision. It all depends on several factors. As much as I repeat that I am delighted at Atletico, I have a great coach and great teammates, they regularly ask me about my future.

“I don’t exclude anything, I have nothing against England, apart from the weather and Manchester United is a possibility.”

Griezmann has previously spoken of how he idolised David Beckham at United and, with the number 7 shirt, Beckham’s old one, still available at United since the departure of Memphis Depay in January, Griezmann could fill it.

Whether United remain interested in the 26-year-old is another matter. He was clearly a top target last summer, but after he said no, Jose Mourinho brought in Everton striker Romelu Lukaku for an initial £75m.
