Patrice Evra has heaped praise on Paul Pogba for what was a scintillating return to action for Manchester United over the weekend.
The Frenchman, who had missed 12 games with a hamstring injury, returned to the starting XI against Newcastle United and produced a galvanising display that helped Man United net four goals for the first time since September.
He produced a perfectly executed assist for Anthony Martial in the first half and netted United’s third soon after half time, deservedly earning the ‘Man of the Match’ award at full time.
And Evra, in his weekly Monday video, dedicated this most recent masterpiece to his former Juventus and France teammate.
The former left-back is indeed echoing the same sentiments felt by United supporters on Saturday. After a period of worrying regression and an arduous international break, Pogba’s ebullient return to action helped all of us love this game once again.
When the Frenchman enters that kind of rhythm and starts to take mesmerising control of proceedings, how can you not? Pogba is an integral component to Mourinho’s tactical set-up at Old Trafford first and full most, but he is also one of the best entertainers in the modern game.
And that, above anything, is the hallmark of a world class talent: the ability to bring results and joy in equal measure.
