Marcos Rojo put in a wonderful performance on his return from a serious injury as he played the full 90 minutes of Manchester United’s 1-0 defeat away from home to FC Basel.
The Reds succumbed to a late equaliser from the Swiss side as Michael Lang beat Sergio Romero in the 89th-minute after the hosts had dominated the second-half as Man United sat back.
Rojo was a major positive of the game, despite the loss. He played 45 minutes for United’s under-23 side in their Premier League International Cup victory against Athletic Club last week, but was an unused substitute at the weekend as his teammates thrashed Newcastle United 4-1.
To start, and play the full game, in a tough Champions League match away from after the injury he had is hugely impressive.
To do that, and put in a commanding performance as he did, is even more so.

Rojo was making his first appearance for club or country since April 20th, when he suffered knee ligament damage in United’s UEFA Europa League quarter-final second-leg against Anderlecht at Old Trafford. Incredibly, in the same game, both he and Zlatan Ibrahimovic suffered serious ligament injuries.
Ibrahimovic returned on Saturday to a standing ovation at Old Trafford, and came on for Anthony Martial for the second consecutive game on Wednesday night.
