The Portuguese boss joined the Red Devils last year and during his first campaign, Martial failed to impress.

His injury half way through the season sparked the rise of Marcus Rashford and the two youngsters would soon find themselves competing with each other for the same spot.

Martial though was transparent in a recent interview and agreed with comments made that the player and manager didn’t seem to be on the same page.

Speaking to Telefoot, Anthony said: “I’m someone who does not like talking, I like to stay in my little bubble.

“It was hard with me [last season at Man United]. I think [Mourinho and I] did not understand each other too much. But we’ve got to know each other, we talk a lot more and now it’s better.

“I was not focused enough [last season].”

This season the former AS Monaco man has found himself in a much richer vein of form, scoring seven goals and getting four assists already.

The end product has returned for Martial who seemed to struggle getting on the scoreboard last season amid some personal problems.

Rumours of his relationship with his child’s mother along with family problems seemed to affect Anthony just as it would any other footballer.

However, he’s since adjust to Jose Mourinho‘s tactics and has put behind himself the issues he’s dealt with previously.

Rashford has also added more end product to his game as well and the two youngster’s friendly rivalry has made for an interesting theme to the season.

Both players have shared the first team minutes so far but Mourinho certainly favours the Englishman, with Martial doing most of damage coming off of the bench.
