From Spain: Barcelona representatives meet with Antonine Griezmann’s family ahead of potential move

by Leo Nieboer

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has met with Antoine Griezmann’s parents to discuss a move as the Catalan side enter pole position to sign the Frenchman next summer, according to reports.

The forward’s agent claimed last month that his time at Atletico Madrid was coming to an end, with a move away next summer more a matter of ‘when’ rather than ‘if’.

Griezmann would reportedly prefer a move to the Nou Camp over Old Trafford but wants assurances that Ernesto Valverde will place him at the centre of his plans for next season.

And according to Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo, Bartomeu has met with the 26-year-old’s parents to help lay the foundations for a move next year.

In more important news, though, Griezmann posted a photo of himself on Sunday night completely ‘blacked up’ in an attempt to mimic an NBA star, the worse bit of it being that he wasn’t even imitating one player in particular but rather just embodying a grossly racist stereotype of a basketball player.

He then recorded an Instagram video of himself at a Christmas party, seemingly oblivious to just how awful this whole idea was. The whole thing, which demonstrates a clear unconscious racism and a general lack of sensibility,  has totally dampened any desire I personally had of wanting him at my club.
