Manchester United fans disappointed by Paul Pogba’s performance vs Bristol City

Manchester United fans were let down by Paul Pogba after his display vs Championship side Bristol City in the League Cup.

The Frenchman wasn’t his usual best and couldn’t stop a determined Bristol team from running out winners on their home turf.

United concede the first goal of the match but managed to get an equaliser through a Zlatan Ibrahimovic free-kick.

Unfortunately for the Red Devils it wasn’t enough to help spark a comeback win and ultimately Bristol sucker punched Jose Mourinho‘s men at the death to end the match 2-1 in their favour.

Supporters looked to Pogba’s return from his suspension with huge hope and were disappointed that he couldn’t help his side advance into the semi-finals of the cup competition.

Paul Pogba would be right in worrying about his club’s midfield depth issues as his teammates continue to struggle without him on the pitch.

Manchester United currently have Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini, Scott McTominay, Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic as the club’s first team central midfielders.

Carrick and Fellaini are injured for the foreseeable future and McTominay can’t be expected to carry any sort of pressure in his debut season.

Herrera meanwhile is a shadow of the player fans saw dominate last season and can’t seem to get himself going at all.

Matic is of course Pogba’s main partner but the lack of options is a real concern, particularly since Michael and Marouane’s contracts end in the summer.

Andreas Pereira returns from his loan spell at Valencia next season but the question is, will that be enough for a side look to challenge for the title in the next Premier League campaign?
