Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand reacts to loss vs Bristol City

Club legend and current pundit Rio Ferdinand did not hold back on his assessment of Manchester United’s match vs Bristol City.

The Red Devils fell to a defeat to the home side, losing out on a semi-final spot in the League Cup unlike their Premier League rivals.

Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City all made it through to the next stage of the competition but United missed out due to the Championship side’s respectable performance.

Jose Mourinho was let down by his player who seemed to have little care for the fixture which is unusual considering that they should know first hand what winning the trophy means.

Either way Ferdinand was not impressed by his former club’s performance and was quick to look ahead to their next fixture.

Manchester United could’ve certainly done with having a player like Rio back in their side given some of the side’s atrocious defending.

Perhaps Mourinho would even consider re-signing the Englishman now after seeing how his defenders performed against a Championship team.

Ultimately United were shown up by a side who had real desire for the game and worked hard to make their division proud.

Bristol are the only remaining Championship club in the competition and it’s a credit to them that they got this far.

Some of Jose’s players though will definitely be looking over their shoulders after that performance though with the upcoming summer likely to see a huge clear-out of some of the club’s deadwood.

Whether the Portuguese manager survives until then is yet to be seen but barring any sort of disaster, most would expect to see him still bossing Old Trafford around.
