The Red Devils hosted The Clarets at Old Trafford but were outfoxed as the away side headed into half time with a two goal lead.
Furious with his players, Mourinho made two substitutions at half time which proved to do the trick as United walked away with a decent point given the context of the match.
Lingard and Henrikh Mkhitaryan were the two players brought on but it was the Englishman who made the difference, scoring a brace to tie things up for his side.
Although he received plenty of criticism earlier on in the season, Jesse has responded superbly with a string of fine performances and fans have given him due praise.
Lingard, whatever you think of his talent, deserves to be starting games far more than many of his squad mates at the moment.

The title is finished, everyone knows that. Whoever finishes 2-4 is open. And Lingard, as is his way, has a part to play.

Incoming hate but Lingard's actually earned his wage this season tbh. Been saving us.

A draw still not good enough but Jesse Lingard was absolutely excellent. Both were great goals. Absolutely mind-boggling why he was left out over Ibrahimović.

As great as the big Swede is, it’s clear for all to see that he’s not match fit enough to play full matches or even start them for that matter.
The only logical explanation for Ibrahimovic starting ahead of an in-form Jesse Lingard is that Mourinho was giving the academy product a rest.
With the winter fixture list in full flow, matches are coming thick and fast and perhaps Jose was saving Lingard for more important fixtures.
Either way Jesse proved his manager wrong and only added to his case to start consistently as the club’s first choice attacking midfielder.
