Manchester United may have a problem on their hands with Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid interested in young star Anthony Martial.
The French international has had a decent second season under Jose Mourinho and their are reports that Zidane rates him highly.
The striker turned winger has at times forced Old Trafford and Mourinho favourite Marcus Rashford out of the starting XI due to his form.
He started the season on the bench playing second fiddle but played his way into Jose’s plans after the manager could no longer ignore him.
Reports claim that Madrid are interested in bidding in the region of £88m for Martial in the aim to pry him from United’s hands.
According to Don Balon, Zinedine is looking towards the former AS Monaco man to replace his current striker Karim Benzema.
Benzema has faced huge criticism this season for his form and it’s almost reached a climatic point with the board and manager agreeing he needs to be moved on.
With Anthony apparently interested in the move, the Red Devils may have to try to tie him down with a contract extension.
However, it’s unlikely that Jose can guarantee him consistent match time and perhaps Real Madrid will be able to lure him over with their offer.
Leading one of Spain’s biggest clubs as the undoubted striker is a prospect the youngster may find too good to resist but how realistic is it?
Even if Karim is moved on, it’s more possible that Cristiano Ronaldo will attempt to lead the line for the Spanish capital.
