December couldn’t have gone any better for Jesse Lingard at Manchester United, at least on a personal level with the England international winning the club’s Player of the Month award.
Jones also had an impressive month, putting behind himself the injuries and trying to prove once more just why Jose Mourinho rates him so much.
Mata resurrected himself too, putting in displays that rival his best in a United shirt since arriving from Chelsea under David Moyes’ ill-fated campaign.
When it comes to Jesse though, the decision was almost unanimous with the versatile attacker picking up 85% of the fans’ votes and it was only well deserved.

Out of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Romelu Lukaku, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Juan Mata, many expected Jesse Lingard to be the player to lose out in the club’s starting XI front quartet.
In the beginning that was the case with the academy product often sitting out matches and when coming on failing to impress to the point that the club’s own fanbase were criticising him a bit too harshly.
However, eventually Lingard started to make the most of his appearances, starting particularly in the Carabao Cup and his form started to carry into the Premier League.
Soon his performances were becoming too good to ignore by Jose Mourinho with Jesse winning over his manager, fans and critics simultaneously in a superb December showing. Long may it continue!
