Manchester United fans praise Jesse Lingard’s performance vs Derby

by Marwan Harraz

Manchester United academy product Jesse Lingard can’t put a foot wrong with his performance vs Derby leaving fans plenty satisfied.

The Red Devils managed to eventually overcome the stubborn Championship side with Lingard opening the scoring for his team with five minutes left to play.

Romelu Lukaku helped make things comfortable for his team by netting a goal of his own with United running out 2-0 winners at Old Trafford.

With Jose Mourinho‘s men unlikely to challenge for the Premier League title or Champions League and having been knocked out of the Carabao Cup, the FA Cup represents the team’s most realistic chance of silverware this season.

Jesse helped his teammates win England’s most prestigious cup competition the last time around under Louis Van Gaal‘s leadership and with the sort of form he’s in now, there’s no reason why he can’t do it again.

Jesse Lingard‘s fine form this season perhaps stems from his new position as an attacking midfielder under Mourinho’s stewardship.

The England international has featured for Manchester United mostly from the wings and even on occasion as a wing-back but has since found his place as a number ten.

Having previously expressed his desire to play in that position, it seems logical to see him benefit from featuring there regularly for the Red Devils.

Although he’s gaining all the praise now, Lingard was actually temporarily criticised by some sections of his own supporters after enduring a small disappointing run.

Since then though, he’s managed to win over United fans and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Jesse as one of the first name’s on the England squad that travels to Russia for the World Cup this summer.
