Jose Mourinho and Manchester United are interested in signing Chelsea’s David Luiz: report

According to reports, Jose Mourinho and Manchester United are interested in signing Chelsea star and centre-back David Luiz.

The Brazilian defender has previously worked with the Portuguese manager, although it was during this time that Luiz was sold to PSG for a large sum of money.

It appears as though Mourinho is willing to it all in the past though, particularly as it’s believed that the player was the one who asked for the move then.

At the time, he partnered international teammate Thiago Silva to form a relatively formidable defence in the French league.

Matters have changed since and the Red Devils are keen to lure David away from Stamford Bridge, reportedly opening talks with the Blues.

According to The Hard Tackle, Jose and the Red Devils are looking to acquire the services of David Luiz this transfer window and are hoping to beat Arsenal to the chase.

Manchester United’s interest in the central defender does come as a bit of a survive due to already being overstocked in that position.

Phil Jones, Eric Bailly, Marcos Rojo, Chris Smalling, Victor Lindelof, academy product Axel Tuanzebe and even Daley Blind have all featured in defence at one point or the other this season.

Perhaps Jose Mourinho is interested in Luiz due to his backline’s inability to remain fit consistently throughout the season with Bailly in particularly suffering an injury that appears will keep him out for some time.

Another reason for United to be linked with the former PSG man is maybe due to Mourinho planning on selling one or two of the above players, making space for David.
