Manchester United reach agreement with Paris Saint Germain to sign Lucas Moura – report

Manchester United have reached an agreement with Paris Saint Germain to sign Lucas Moura and have entered the process of negotiating his transfer fee.

Jose Mourinho has called on the club’s hierarchy to invest in creative talent over the January transfer window, with Malcom and Antoine Griezmann emerging as targets.

Man United have expressed an interest in signing Moura, who hasn’t made a start for PSG this season, on a loan deal.

But according to French media outlet Canal+, PSG have rejected the prospect of a loan move and Man United, in response, have reached an agreement with Moura to sign him on a permanent basis and could secure his services for around €25M.

In the context of today’s inflated market forces, signing a player for around £20m is a superb piece of business.

Mourinho has demanded of the board a chance to bolster his side’s creativity and dynamism in the final third this season and Moura, at his best, provides exactly that in abundance: slippery, devastatingly quick, nimble in possession, incredibly skilful.

That said, the last year or so has seen Moura struggle to progress and regularly assert himself at the Parc des Princes, which is probably why Mourinho initially only wanted a loan deal.

But make no mistake: there is talent there. Scary levels of talent. And supporters can hardly complain if the club secures Moura’s signature for such a nominal fee and he goes on to ease the load on Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard, who were all overworked during the December period.
