Alexis Sanchez has been left out of Arsenal’s squad to face AFC Bournemouth on Sunday with a move to Manchester United on the cards.
Man United’s interest in the Chilean has become public in recent days, with Alexis having been expected to join local title rivals Manchester City either this month or in the summer when his contract expires.
However, United are now favourites to sign the attacker according to a number of sources. The Independent suggest that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger could sanction the sale of Sanchez to United within the next two days.
The turn in events is due to United being willing to pay Arsenal’s £35m asking price with City are prepared to walk away from the deal due to both that and Sanchez’s agent demanding near £10m in agent fees.
United will pay that much, and will offer Sanchez wages of almost £400,000-a-week in one of the biggest moves in the Premier League for some years.
The 29-year-old has been hugely important for Arsenal in recent years. He’s one of the Premier League’s best players.
Wenger will try to sign Bordeaux’s young forward Malcolm, 20, to replace Sanchez and if that deal goes through, which it is expected to, United will be clear to bring in Sanchez to boost their chances of catching City in the title race in the second half of the season.
