Jose Mourinho urges Manchester United to meet Juventus asking price for Alex Sandro – report

Manchester United have made Alex Sandro their primary transfer target in nth left-back position.

Manager Jose Mourinho has labelled Sandro as the player to solve his left-back issue, which the Portuguese is keen to sort out despite excellent form from both veteran Ashley Young and youngster Luke Shaw in recent weeks.

Man United’s board have been urged by Mourinho to meet Juventus’ steep £53m asking price that’s been set recently with both the Reds and fellow Premier League giants Chelsea interested in bringing him to England.

Mourinho won’t push for a deal for Sandro until the summer, though United’s interest has been made clear already. However, if Chelsea make an offer first, it’s likely that United will show their keenness to sign Sandro with a formal offer.

The 26-year-old has been of interest to Chelsea and Antonio Conte for some time, and the Italian manager is hoping to be given the necessary funds by his board to sign Sandro in January. That would force United to respond.

Juventus are willing to sell Sandro, on the terms that they identify and sign a successor before. He’s played 20 times for the Old Lady this season in all competitions. French champions Paris Saint-Germain are also interested.
