The Chilean is set to arrive on a free transfer from Arsenal in a player-swap deal that will see Armenian forward Henrikh Mkhitaryan go the other way.
Sanchez is expected to be earning in excess of £350,000-a-week, with significant image rights and a large signing on fee.
Pogba signed a contract worth £167,000-a-week when he re-joined Man United for a then-world record £89m transfer fee from Juventus in 2016. That was automatically increased to more than £200,000-a-week after the Reds qualified for the UEFA Champions League by beating Ajax in the final of the UEFA Europa League.
According to The Mirror, the star midfielder’s agent Mino Raiola will tell his client that he’s being underpaid in comparison to Sanchez at Old Trafford.
The Frenchman has three years left on his contract at the club. He’s been in fantastic form this season, and it’s unlikely United will be against a new deal for Pogba.
With the 24-year-old in the side, United are 36 games unbeaten in the Premier League. It’s a sensational record and shows his influence on the side.
It’s a worrying consequence of the Sanchez deal that could have long-term implications. Some have suggested it’s one of the reasons that Manchester City, who Sanchez was expected to join either this month or in summer, pulled out of a deal to sign the 29-year-old, as it would affect their wage structure.
Sanchez’s wages have the potential to completely destroy the club’s wage structure, effectively creating a situation where all United’s star players demand a wage increase of near double.
