Angel Gomes brought bums off seats with a dazzling late cameo during Manchester United’s 4-0 win over Yeovil Town on Friday night.
The youngster, who made his debut as a 16-year-old back in May, was included in the travelling squad after continuing to impress at youth level.
He was handed another chance to impress during the dying moments of the game and instantly asserted himself, burning past a Yeovil defender before firing a powerful shot against the side netting.
Gomes’ numbers from the game shed light on what was an impressive showing in such a short space of time.

This was only the youngster’s second appearance for the senior side but you could tell straight away that he has been pushing himself to improve since his first.
Nicky Butt and Co have emphasised the importance of not just turning Gomes into a star player but a leader as well – a player who will, without compunction, take the charge to opponents week after week.
A new contract and a promotion to Ricky Spragia’s Under 23s are signs of that mentality and it was there to see at Huish Park, the 17-year-old breaking ankles with a superb run and turn, falling just short in front of goal.
It was nonetheless a performance that has supporters talking, and they will hope to see more of him going forward this season.
