Manchester United interested in Bayern Munich’s unwanted star Arturo Vidal: report

by Marwan Harraz

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Bayern Munich’s Arturo Vidal in what is surely a shock transfer story.

The Red Devils currently boast the likes of Paul Pogba, Ander Herrera, Nemanja Matic, Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini and youngster Scott McTominay as their central midfield options.

However, Carrick is expected to retire at the end of the season and Fellaini has yet to commit to a new contract despite his current one ending in the summer.

This leaves Jose Mourinho with just three senior options in the club’s engine room which is certainly a cause for concern.

News of Vidal’s possible transfer to Old Trafford is still unusual given how it’s unlikely that the German giants are ok with letting go of a player of such quality.

According to Goal, Bild report that Bayern are willing to sell Arturo in the summer and the Red Devils hope to steal him ahead of other potentially interested clubs.

United’s interest can be expected given their lack of options in midfield should the aforementioned turn out to be true.

Although Herrera has stepped up a gear recently, he has performed poorly all season long in comparison to how he played in the previous campaign.

Matic and Pogba are Mourinho’s only reliable midfielders so Arturo Vidal is definitely the type of player to look to invest in.

With Bayern Munich recently announcing that they’ve signed Leon Goretzka, it could be that the Chilean is the disposable player who will make way for their new star.
