ESPN FC pundit Craig Burley has called for Manchester United star Anthony Martial to show more consistency than he has done in the past.
The Frenchman came to Old Trafford under Louis Van Gaal‘s management and became an instant hit after scoring on his debut against fierce rivals Liverpool.
Martial continued his meteoric rise, impressing in his first season in the Premier League but his dream start would soon turn for the worse.
Having suffered an injury in a pre-match warm up, Marcus Rashford replaced him and impressed so well that the former AS Monaco man had to share match time with the new academy product.
Burley has been impressed with Anthony though but believes he must put in more consistent performances to become a top player for United.
According to the Sunday Express, Craig said” “Martial’s got stronger, Martial’s a very good player. He’s a frustrating player because he has got so much talent but he needs to do it on a more regular basis.
“He’s got the pace, he’s got the quick feet, he’s got the ability, he’s got the strength and the power.”
Rashford went through a similar meteoric rise to his teammate but Anthony Martial failed to build on things in his second season with the club.
Under new management he seemed to struggle with Jose Mourinho‘s demands whilst simultaneously going through tough personal circumstances that affected him on the pitch.
The youngster would soon admit this was the case but has kicked on since and has proven to have recovered his best form this season.
Although Marcus is the player who started the season in the left wing position, Martial’s performances from the bench soon translated into him taking over from the Englishman and he’s yet to let up as he attempts to put together his best season yet for the Red Devils.
