Manchester United remain determined to beat Liverpool to the signing of Borussia Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic over the summer, according to reports from Germany.
The United States international has emerged on the radar of several big clubs after breaking into the Dortmund side last season, making 43 appearances in total.
And according to German media outlet SportBild, United will continue to fight for Pulisic’s signature ahead of the summer transfer window.
Jose Mourinho has made it clear that, given the current attacking options at his disposal, he will focus on replenishing other areas over the summer. And you can see why: the arrival of Alexis Sanchez and the club’s decision to extend Juan Mata‘s contract by another year gives United a diverse attacking base.
But the allure of Pulisic, for both fan and club executive, is unquestionable: a devastatingly quick, direct, skilful, balanced presence out wide who has the potential to become the first worldwide modern sensation from the U.S.
Anybody who did secure his services would be tapping into a huge market of opportunity, and those at the very top of the club’s hierarchy, who have been keen to spread United’s name in the ‘Free World’, may just be tempted to pinch the teenager from under Liverpool’s nose.
