Manchester United’s Nemanja Matic expects aggressive Sevilla in Champions League

Nemanja Matic has been discussing Manchester United’s upcoming tie vs Sevilla in the Champions League where he expects the home side to be aggressive.

The two clubs clash in the knockout stages of Europe’s biggest trophy with Jose Mourinho‘s men in particular expected to advance to the next round.

This season is the first for United in the competition under the Portuguese manager’s reign and fans are keen to see him use his full experience to help them advance as far as possible.

Supporters don’t expect an actual challenge for the trophy but are expecting the club to compete respectably and getting into the quarter finals is a good way to prove that.

Matic has decided to respect his opponents in the pre-match talk but has backed his own side to prove their superiority against the Spanish side.

According to the Express, Nemanja said: “They are a very good team and especially at home, where they have great supporters who cheer them on for 90 minutes.

“We expect they are going to be aggressive from the start. But we know what our jobs are, we know what our qualities are and we are going to be ready.”

Although the Red Devils’ fanbase have loved the Serbian immediately, many don’t wish to see him start the crucial clash.

This isn’t due to his quality or form but rather that some supporters believe Nemanja Matic has been used too often this season and clearly needs a rest.

The defensive midfielder started incredibly well for his new team but his form has dipped of late to an average level and many attribute it to exhaustion.

Mourinho is known to often rely on a solid starting XI and isn’t one to rotate too often, having previously seen his former teams suffer from ‘burn-out’.

With Michael Carrick finally back to fitness, there is an opportunity for Jose to rest Matic but perhaps the fixture’s importance will stop him from doing so.
