The media has hyped up a so called feud between the two as the story continues, possibly providing the club with a distraction that may have caused their poor form.
In their past five matches United have won twice, lost twice and drawn once across all competitions from the moment Pogba and Mourinho’s relationship apparently deteriorated.
The Portuguese manager substituted the Frenchman during the losses to Tottenham and Newcastle while dropping him to the bench for the rest of the matches.
Gallas though has supported his former boss’ methods, believing it will only help to bring out the best from Paul in the future.
According to ESPN, William said to SFR Sport: “Whether it was me or whether it was someone else, he has always had a go at his players. If he does that it’s because he likes you and thinks you have quality.
“He want’s you to be 100 percent, which is why he has had a go at Paul because he knows Paul can do a lot better. The fact he has had a go is going to make him react. You saw that after he came off the bench — he didn’t lose a single ball.
Some fans have completely dismissed the speculation and believe that Paul Pogba is simply in poor form, validating Jose’s decision making.
The once confident, full of flair player has looked a shell of himself over the past few matches and some supporters have attributed it to Alexis Sanchez’s arrival.
While there may be some truth to those claims, the Chilean should be bringing the best out of Pogba and vice-versa, especially if the Red Devils are to have any hopes of success.
It could simply be a coincidence, meaning it would only be a matter of time until the two are in sync with one another.
Although Sanchez has looked a quality player already, it would be fair to say that Manchester United fans are yet to see his best.
