Jose Mourinho points to Manchester United’s ‘control’ for win over Chelsea

by Marwan Harraz

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has explained just how the players managed to beat Chelsea during the club’s crucial win over Antonio Conte’s men.

United edged out the fierce clash 2-1 thanks to goals from Romelu Lukaku and substitute Jesse Lingard after Willian scored for the Blues.

The Brazilian scored the opener but the Belgian managed to equalise before the break and the Englishman scored the winner just 11 minutes after coming on to the pitch.

Lukaku in particular put in an inspired performance, not only scoring but also grabbing the assist for Lingard’s winner.

All 3 points were of extreme importance to the Red Devils in their quest to solidify their position in second place and Mourinho explained just how it happened.

Scott McTominay was in charge of man-marking Eden Hazard and he did such a good job that Conte had no choice but to substitute his player with the match in the balance.

Willian though was his own busy self and thankfully didn’t cause any more damage than he already did with the match opener.

Manchester United certainly enjoyed a better second half as they flexed their muscles and played with far more creativity.

Antonio perhaps only has himself to blame having seemingly told his players to hold out for a draw with Chelsea visibly restraining themselves after the break.

Perhaps it was his attempt in trying to hit United on the counter but it instead worked in their favour, allowing Jose Mourinho‘s men to grow in confidence until the inevitable winner came.
