The Belgian rejected terms offered by the club back in September and once again baulked at the length of a second deal tabled by Ed Woodward this year following pressure from Jose Mourinho to keep him at Old Trafford.
He has been closely linked with Turkish clubs Galatasaray and Besiktas along with Juventus, Inter Milan and Roma.
And according to the Express‘ Jack Wilson, Fellaini has been offered a three year deal worth £150,000 a week by Galatasaray, significantly eclipsing anything proposed by Man United, but has reservations over moving to Turkey and would prefer to uproot his family to Italy.
Roma’s representatives have already established contact with Fellaini and the midfielder has told them he is interested in a move to the Italian capital.
Fellaini’s future was hanging in the balance prior to the new year but the 30-year-old has now had three months to speak with other clubs and you just sense that he is nearing the exit door.
Mourinho has already set his sights on securing a Michael Carrick replacement in the summer but he will need to bring in more than just one player in that area if United are to compete with Manchester City next season.
