Manchester United’s Scott McTominay finally decides on his international future: report

Manchester United’s Scott McTominay has reportedly finally decided on where his international future lies after initial confusion over which country he would play for.

The youngster’s emergence as a first team player left many fans wondering whether he would play for England or Scotland given his eligibility to both.

McTominay couldn’t have possibly expected the season to go as it has done so far for him and it could end even better with a senior international cap.

The academy product didn’t seem to be a player capable of getting much game time this campaign due to his competition in midfield.

Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba, Michael Carrick, Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini were all supposedly ahead of him in the pecking order but he’s still managed some decent match time.

According to STV News, Scott decided on committing to Scotland, ending the debate on which country he should pick for various reasons.

Capitalising on his teammates injuries and poor form, the midfielder impressed during any minutes that were thrown his way.

Jose Mourinho clearly trusts the 21 year old and has praised him, exciting supporters who hope he can become a future United star.

Scotland certainly have a talented player on their hands as well and would do well to build around him and other young Scottish stars in their bid to qualify for the next World Cup.

Perhaps England’s competitive midfield put Scott McTominay off from joining his birth nation or it could simply be a case of national pride as his father is Scottish.
