The Frenchman has finest campaign yet at Man United this season, claiming 11 goals, eight assists and three ‘Player of the Month’ awards.
But the arrival of Alexis Sanchez in January has seen Martial start just one of United’s last four matches, prompting interest from Juventus ahead of the summer.
And according to the Times‘ Paul Hirst, United are desperate to keep the player and will establish fresh talks with Martial and his agent Philippe Lamboley in order to secure his Old Trafford future.
You can only hope that the club – from the board to coaching staff to players – recognise just how much frightening talent Martial has at his disposal.
Paul Pogba, having witnessed the likes of Andrea Pirlo, Paul Scholes and Carlos Tevez in training, notably claimed earlier this season that Martial was one of the best players he’s ever shared a pitch with.
To lose that cutthroat, devilishly humiliating influence on the ball would, even with Sanchez now at the club, set this club back considerably. This is a player who can enliven any game and leave any defender flat on his arse. And at the age of just 22 supporters will just hope that he continues to receive the time and trust he needs from those around him to develop into the world class attacking talent he can be.
