Frank Lampard claims Jose Mourinho got the balance of his team right vs Liverpool

Frank Lampard claimed Jose Mourinho managed to better balance his side when they took on Liverpool in the Premier League at Old Trafford.

Manchester United managed to overcome their rivals through a Marcus Rashford brace as the result ended 2-1 in their favour.

Much has been made of Mourinho’s selections of late but there’s no denying his decisions paid off yesterday in their crucial win over their opponents.

The Portuguese manager has a host of stars playing for him with his biggest challenge being how to bring out the best out of them.

Lampard though believes Jose got it right vs the Reds, praising the midfield’s discipline which allowed their teammates to be released.

The former Chelsea manager has to try to avoid the mistakes of his predecessors as David Moyes and Louis Van Gaal both struggled with this issue.

Most managers attempt to squeeze in their best eleven players into the same starting XI but their mistake is in sacrificing balance of the side in order to do so.

Moyes and Van Gaal also did the same thing and so Manchester United underperformed during both their reigns as everyone knows.

Jose Mourinho though has to make sure it’s the player or players who are sacrificed for the sake of a balanced system for the team to perform on.

That’s not to say a Nemanja Matic and Scott McTominay midfield is the way to move forward on in the future but the boss must continue to keep the balance of the side on the forefront of his mind.
