Jose Mourinho has claimed Manchester United star Marcus Rashford was lacking in confidence before facing off against Liverpool.

The Englishman singlehandedly took apart the Reds, scoring a brace within twenty minutes of the match, helping his side win 2-1.

Rashford has recently struggled for form and fitness with Anthony Martial overtaking him in the pecking order.

The Frenchman himself though was injured for the match and the academy product took advantage by putting in an unforgettable display.

Marcus didn’t look short of confidence when he destroyed Jurgen Klopp’s men but Mourinho revealed the player was short in confidence prior to the fixture.

The striker turned winger has had a difficult start to 2018 and will certainly hope his match against Liverpool will be the start of better things.

With the World Cup coming up around the corner, Marcus Rashford will aim to end his campaign in fine form to be a starter for England in Russia.

Based on what Jose has said though, the youngster still performs in training and it’s just a matter of him continuing that in competitive matches.

Younger players tend to be more inconsistent either way until their performances even out as they mature and their true quality begins to show.

Rashford definitely has the potential to be one of the best players in the world and if he continues to develop at his current rate, he’ll have a long career at Manchester United.

It’s also great to see him perform in big games too not just ones that aren’t equally as important and taking Liverpool apart definitely helps his case.
