Manchester United closely monitoring the situation of Hector Bellerin – report

Manchester United are closely monitoring the situation of Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin as they search for a replacement for Antonio Valencia, according to reports.

The need for reinforcements in the full-back area has been underlined this season by Jose Mourinho‘s continued use of Valencia and Ashley Young as his first choice options.

Bellerin was closely linked with a move to Barcelona last summer and his relationship with Arsenal fans has soured in recent times – especially after he publicly criticised Arsenal Fan TV.

And according to M.E.N‘s Ciaran Kelly, Man United have made their interest known to the Spaniard and are in regular contact with his representatives, although no approach from Mourinho has been made as of yet.

The 22-year-old remains committed to his current deal at the Emirates – for now – and United have requested to remain updated on his situation at the Emirates.

Mourinho’s need for a left-back has been tempered by Luke Shaw‘s resurgence of form but the lack of alternatives to Valencia, who turns 33 in August, is worrying to say the least and simply cannot be avoided once the window opens.

And Bellerin, although disappointing for most of this season, would certainly add some vitality to a position that United have failed to properly reinforce for too long.
