Man United players angered by Jose Mourinho’s “bullying” of Luke Shaw

by Harry Robinson

The Manchester United squad have been left in shock at manager Jose Mourinho’s treatment of young left-back Luke Shaw.

Not for the first time in Mourinho’s time at Old Trafford, the Portuguese attacked Shaw’s performance.

The Englishman’s future at the club looks very uncertain, and it’s expected he’ll be sold in the summer.

The Telegraph report that Shaw’s Man United teammates have been left “stunned and angry” at Mourinho’s public criticism of the player.

It is even suggested that some United players believe Shaw is being bullied by the manager.

The 21-year-old left-back is now facing another spell out of the United first team having started in the Reds’ 2-0 win against Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup quarter-final.

Ashley Young, who has been first choice for much of the season, replaced Shaw at half-time in a clear indication of the lack of faith Mourinho currently has in Shaw.

That is despite public praise for Shaw’s improvement only a couple of months ago where Mourinho suggested the United player could become the best player in the world in his position.

Shaw has previously had interest from Tottenham Hotspur, where he could link up with former-manager Mauricio Pochettino who helped him excel as a teenager at Southampton.

He has been criticised by both Louis van Gaal and Mourinho now. There clearly are issues. But Mourinho’s public attack on him has not been well-received by many United fans, and clearly there is a similar feeling in the dressing room, too.
