Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly ready to raid Chelsea once more for left-back Marcos Alonso.
The Portuguese manager already went back to his former club last summer and stole Nemanja Matic from them but apparently he’s not done yet.
The Serbian has proven to be an inspiring signing so it’s unlikely that anyone would doubt Mourinho’s ambition once again.
However, fans may have their eyebrows raised by just how far the former Real Madrid man is willing to go in order to secure Alonso’s signature.
Given that he has been one of the league’s better full-backs this season and that the London club are unlikely to let go of him he was never going to be cheap but the money on the table is a large sum.
According to Manchester Evening News, Don Balon report that Jose is pushing the board into making an offer for Marcos and is willing to spend up to £70m to steal him away from the Blues.
It’s no surprise to see United being linked once more with left-backs after Luke Shaw‘s dismal display against Brighton on Saturday.
The Englishman was hauled off at half time by Jose who then went on to publicly criticise his player for allowing too many crosses to come into the box.
The Red Devils’ overall performance was turgid to say the least and although they grabbed the win, many players failed to show up, infuriating the manager.
A swap deal may be more ideal and given the amount of signings needed to be made it makes little sense to offer that much money for a single player.
