Manchester United star Zlatan Ibrahimovic has insisted that he still wants to continue playing amidst rumours of retirement.
The Swede legend’s future is very much in the air and so speculation continues to grow as to what will happen in the upcoming summer.
Not only does his contract run out with the club but the World Cup in Russia begins and there have been hints he may return to the international team.
Ibrahimovic has also been linked with a move away to the MLS but there’s also been talk that he may just hang up his boots after not fully recovering from last season’s horrific injury.
The striker has left his future up to fans’ imagination with some believing he may even decide to extend his current stay at United.
According to the Faithful MUFC, Zlatan said: “Speculation has been there all my life. It’s about focusing on the right things and doing the right things. I still want to play.
“It’s nothing I can decide now [United future], but the idea is to keep playing.”
Zlatan did remarkably well to return from his injury far earlier than expected but it could be that it was the reason for the knock he picked up right after.
He returned for a short while before picking up another injury and is yet to return although reports claim he’s back training with the first team.
The former PSG man has the huge task of overhauling Romelu Lukaku away from the starting XI with the Belgian scoring 25 goals this season across all competitions.
No one is truly expecting Zlatan Ibrahimovic to become the club’s main striker but there is hope he can provide adequate cover for Lukaku, particularly when there’s a need to rotate and rest the club’s main stars.
