Manchester United star Anthony Martial‘s agent has not given the best of news to fans of the club as he refused to rule out a move away from Old Trafford.
The Frenchman’s future has been up in the air for the past couple of months despite his good performances for Jose Mourinho, particularly during January when he won player of the month.
Martial has been expecting talks of a contract renewal but it appears the United hierarchy are stalling on it even though they made promises.
This has reportedly upset the former Monaco man and it appears he may now consider leaving the club with their even being claims that he’s unhappy he’s fallen further behind in the pecking order.
Alexis Sanchez’s arrival from Arsenal during the January transfer window certainly hasn’t done him any favours but Mourinho would do well to hold onto the talented player.
According to Sports Mole, Anthony’s agent said to ILBiancoNero: “I can’t confirm Martial will remain at Old Trafford next season, I am sorry but I can’t add anything else about it.
“Martial’s objective is to win the FA Cup and to finish in second place with Manchester United. That way the Red Devils would qualify for the Champions League.”
Of course the player’s agent could simply being trying to employ a scare tactic to get his client a new contract sooner but there’s no real need to rush from the Red Devils’ point of view.
Jose and the board are in a strong position negotiation wise but the smart thing to do would be to have had this wrapped up quickly already.
There’s no need for the situation to escalate given the club’s multiple ongoing problems such as the Old Trafford atmosphere, Paul Pogba‘s saga and the recent exit to Sevilla in the Champions League.
