Garth Crooks has claimed that Manchester United star Romelu Lukaku is looking more and more like Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.
The Belgian has similar attributes to the Ivorian who also had a respectable amount of pace, power and finishing ability.
Lukaku currently leads the line for Jose Mourinho‘s United in a rather similar manner to how Drogba used to lead the line for the Blues.
Much of the Portuguese manager’s success with the London club had to do with the African icon and it’s likely that should he wish to relive any of that success at Old Trafford then he’ll need the former Everton man to be the same type of player.
Crooks claims that the way Romelu has been playing of late has reminded him of Didier and believes there’s plenty more to see still.
According to the Sport Review, Garth said to BBC Sport: “Romelu Lukaku is looking more like Didier Drogba the more I see him.
“From his first headed clearance on the edge of his own six-yard box, to his coolly taken opening goal, the United striker has had a resurgence in form and looks a powerhouse.
“I have seen him in this form for Everton, of course, but he is developing into a much better team player and manager Jose Mourinho must take the credit for that.”
Romelu Lukaku has had an undeniable good season so far in his first campaign with the Red Devils as he finds himself with a goalscoring record of over 20.
Fans were hoping to see the powerful striker become the club’s main source of goals and he hasn’t failed to deliver as some anticipated.
Lukaku has certainly developed as the season went on but there’s little doubt he’ll grab even more goals next season as he truly settles.
Manchester United fans have also recognised that he’s scored that many goals with the poor service he’s received from his teammates and hope that a more efficient team next season will see his record rise even further.
